New Initiative Encourages Young Women to Step into Diplomacy
The “Diplomat for a Day” competition has been launched as a collaborative effort by the British, Canadian, Australian, Dutch, and New Zealand embassies in Belgium, aiming to empower young women and girls as future leaders. Winners of the competition will be invited to Brussels to engage with senior diplomats and discuss equality issues on 3 March 2026.
Empowering Future Leaders
This initiative seeks to encourage girls and women to take on leadership roles and advocate for meaningful change in society. Through mentorship opportunities, participants will gain insights into diplomatic careers and the importance of gender equality. The event will foster discussions around women’s representation in various sectors, addressing the need for greater equity in political and economic landscapes.
Who Can Participate?
Eligible candidates include female Belgian citizens or dual nationals currently residing in Belgium who are enrolled in high school and aged between 16 and 19, or those who will turn 16 in 2026.
