Teenager Accused of Planning Synagogue Attack in Newcastle
A 15-year-old boy is facing serious allegations relating to an intended terrorist attack on a synagogue in Newcastle. The accusations include plotting with the intent to utilise weapons and explosives, alongside connections to an extremist far-right group known as ‘The Base’.
Allegations of a Disturbing Plot
During proceedings at Leeds Crown Court, jurors were informed that the teenager maintained a journal detailing a “to-do list” that included acquiring crossbow bolts, body armour, and methods for creating explosives. Additionally, he reportedly documented plans involving violent actions against a synagogue, stating intentions to “blow up” targets and use knives or machetes in his assault.
Authorities discovered the boy’s room, which displayed white supremacist imagery, when they executed a search warrant at his home in Northumberland on 20 February last year. A cache of weapons, including a crossbow, was also retrieved during the investigation.
Expressions of Ideology and Influence
In his writings, the defendant expressed extremist views, blaming governmental authorities for perceived injustices against white individuals. He articulated aspirations to inspire similar actions in other countries and sought to ignite a race war in the UK. Furthermore, the boy vowed that he would act independently, claiming no one else would be implicated in his plans.
Communication records revealed that he identified as an “eco-fascist” and “accelerationist,” indicating a desire to provoke violence to achieve ideological aims. He claimed to aspire to be part of a proactive group.
Researching Violent Acts
The court also heard evidence that the teenager was actively researching violent attacks around the time of Christmas, including downloading the manifesto of a far-right extremist responsible for a 2019 synagogue attack in Germany. On Christmas Day itself, he searched for information on school shootings and plans for making homemade firearms.
In the days that followed, he continued to amass information, including resources for creating ammunition and 3D printed weapons. Notably, on Boxing Day, he shared a photo posing with an air rifle while dressed in military camouflage, coupled with a skull mask. Additionally, he downloaded a document titled the White Resistance Manual.

The allegations come at a time of heightened concern regarding domestic extremism in the UK, particularly involving youth engagement with far-right ideologies. The rise of extremist groups has sparked warnings from authorities regarding the potential for radicalisation among vulnerable populations.
Legal Proceedings
The teenager faces multiple charges, including preparing acts of terrorism, membership in a proscribed organisation, and possession and dissemination of terrorist materials. He has vehemently denied the charges, and the trial is ongoing as the court hears further evidence related to his actions and intentions.
