2026 Annual Supplier Survey Launched by GCA
The Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) has announced the opening of its 2026 annual supplier survey, which will run until Sunday, 22 February. Administered by the independent polling firm YouGov, the survey aims to gather insights from suppliers about their experiences with designated retailers over the past year.
Significance of the Survey
This annual survey serves as a crucial tool for the GCA, enabling them to assess how designated retailers have interacted with their suppliers. The feedback collected will be instrumental in holding retailers accountable for any troubling practices and in promoting necessary reforms where needed. The results of this survey are expected to be published in spring 2026.
Next Steps in the Process
In addition to the survey, YouGov will also conduct anonymous follow-up interviews with a select group of suppliers to delve deeper into their experiences. Suppliers who wish to take part in these interviews are encouraged to provide their consent and contact details at the end of the main survey.
Addressing Supplier Concerns
Each designated retailer is supported by a Code Compliance Officer (CCO), who operates separately from procurement teams. CCOs provide a confidential avenue for suppliers to discuss any concerns regarding the retailer’s adherence to the Groceries Code. Importantly, suppliers can raise issues without fearing any adverse consequences.
The GCA has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that suppliers feel secure in voicing their concerns. They are actively monitoring compliance by retailers with safety measures designed to protect suppliers from retaliation.
Confidential Reporting Options
Suppliers can reach out to the GCA anonymously through an online reporting platform called “Tell the GCA” or via email. The GCA has a legal mandate to keep supplier information confidential, emphasising that it will not disclose any details that might identify a supplier without explicit consent.
