New Planning Application Checklist Implemented in Old Oak and Park Royal Area
The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) has introduced an updated validation checklist for planning applications, marking a significant step in improving the transparency and efficiency of the local planning process. This new checklist was officially adopted in January 2019 after a comprehensive consultation period.
Consultation Process
On 19 September 2018, the OPDC Planning Committee discussed a proposed draft validation checklist, dated October 2018, that outlined the necessary documents to accompany planning applications. In accordance with statutory procedures, the local community was invited to review and provide feedback on this draft checklist, which was made available for consultation for six weeks, from 4 October to 15 November 2018.
The public consultation was widely publicised through the OPDC newsletter, reaching approximately 1,000 stakeholders, including local residents, businesses, and planning agents. This outreach effort was aimed at ensuring that feedback from the community was integral in shaping the final validation checklist.
Adoption of the Validation List
Following the consultation, a recommendation report was prepared, which laid the groundwork for the formal adoption of the OPDC’s Validation List 2019. This new checklist is intended to enhance the planning application process, providing clear guidelines and expectations for applicants.
Importance of the Checklist
The introduction of this validation checklist is crucial for the Old Oak and Park Royal area, which has been poised for significant development. By clarifying requirements for planning applications, local planners aim to facilitate a smoother and more efficient review process, ultimately contributing to better urban development in the region.
