HM Land Registry Enhances Application Insight for Conveyancers
HM Land Registry has unveiled enhanced data regarding the quality of applications, supporting conveyancers and law firms in optimising their submissions. This initiative aims to alleviate costly delays in the property market for both the Registry and its clients.
Data Insights and Progress
The updated dataset, accessible on GOV.UK, highlights significant advancements since HM Land Registry began releasing data in May 2025. Key findings include:
-
29% of professional clients have reported a drop in avoidable requisition rates.
-
57% now maintain requisition rates below 5%.
-
20% of firms are achieving rates of under 1%, a slight increase from 17% last year. Nonetheless, some firms continue to face higher rates, highlighting an ongoing challenge.
Importance of Reduced Requisitions
The reduction of errors within applications not only accelerates processing times but also fosters a more efficient experience for clients. By publishing this data, HM Land Registry is responding to the demands from regulators and consumer advocacy groups for greater transparency in the property sector.
The initial requisition data encompassed a broad spectrum of reasons, many of which were influenced by property law, registration protocols, and market dynamics. The latest dataset provides a more focused perspective on these issues.
