Young Women Invited to Compete for Unique Role at British Embassy in Portugal
Ambitious young women in Portugal have the chance to participate in an exciting competition that allows them to experience a day in the life of an ambassador. “Ambassador for a Day” will enable selected winners to shadow the UK Ambassador to Portugal, immersing themselves in the essential activities that characterize diplomatic work.
Competition Overview
The initiative seeks to address the longstanding underrepresentation of women and girls in roles related to diplomacy, politics, and business. With women making up half of the global population, it is crucial for their voices to be amplified in these fields. This opportunity also coincides with the forthcoming 640th anniversary of the Treaty of Windsor, highlighting the historic alliance between the United Kingdom and Portugal. This occasion acknowledges the significant contributions of many extraordinary women throughout this partnership, including figures like Philippa of Lancaster, whose influence has endured through the centuries.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the competition, participants must meet specific criteria:
- Applicants must be female students enrolled in a secondary school in Portugal.
- Participants should be in years 10 to 12.
- They must be available for a full day of activities at the British Embassy on 13 March 2026.
How to Enter
