Honours for Dstl Innovators Recognised in King’s New Year Honours
Aimee Anderson, a project manager at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), has been awarded the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s New Year Honours list. Her recognition stems from her significant contributions to the development of pioneering scientific and technological solutions for military applications.
Aimee Anderson’s MBE Recognition
Aimee Anderson has been honoured by His Majesty King Charles III for her role in driving forward innovative technologies at a rapid pace. Anderson expressed her surprise and gratitude, stating, “Being acknowledged for my work in this way is a privilege I never imagined receiving.” She emphasised that this honour is a collective achievement and credited her dedicated team for their support over the past three years.

Bond, part of the Chemical and Biological Protection Team, acknowledged the honour, stating, “It is both humbling and an honour to receive this recognition for my work in chemical and biological physical protection.” He highlighted the collaborative efforts of his team, emphasising their commitment to strengthening the UK’s defence capabilities.
VCDS Commendations Recognising Team Efforts
In addition to individual accolades, approximately 150 Dstl staff members have been commended by the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff (VCDS) for their contributions. Among the teams recognised:
- The team that provided expertise during the police investigation into the Southport murders in 2024, assisting Merseyside Police and facilitating laboratory testing at Porton Down.
- The Land Systems team for their long-standing commitment to enhancing soldier survivability through advanced scientific and technological solutions.
- A project team that swiftly developed a surface-to-air weapon simulator for use in international air survivability tests.
- Two individual commendations for staff who offered scientific and technological guidance for ongoing military operations.
