Dr Fiona Rayment Honoured as DBE for Contributions to Nuclear Industry
Dr Fiona Rayment, a prominent figure in the nuclear sector and a board member at Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), has been awarded the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) by His Majesty the King in the New Year’s Honours List. This recognition celebrates her significant contributions to the nuclear industry.

Dr Rayment’s Impressive Credentials
Dame Rayment, who joined the NRS Board in December 2023 as an Independent Non-Executive Director, holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. She is a chartered chemist and engineer, as well as a distinguished fellow of multiple prestigious organisations, including the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
She has also recently been awarded the Frank Wittle Medal for her exceptional leadership in engineering within the nuclear sphere, further solidifying her reputation in the sector.
Current Roles and Contributions
Dr Rayment’s influence extends beyond her role at NRS. She serves as an advisor to both the DESNZ Science and Technology Council and the Office of Nuclear Regulation Chief Nuclear Inspector’s Independent Advisory Panel. She chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Energy Division at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and is a Non-Executive Member of the UK Space Agency Steering Board.
Additionally, Rayment has held numerous leadership roles, including past President of the UK Nuclear Institute and Chief Science and Technology Officer at the UK National Nuclear Laboratory. She is actively involved in promoting gender diversity in the sector as the Patron of Women in Nuclear UK.
