On Thursday, under the guidance of Guinness ambassador Leo Ravina, King Charles was taught the crucial art of pint-pulling, which included holding the glass at a precise angle of 45 degrees. Following brewing tradition, he paused the pouring process when the glass reached three-quarters full, allowing the stout to settle before completing the pint.
Upon finishing, Mr Ravina commended the King with a cheerful declaration of “that’s a perfect pint of Guinness.” In a light-hearted exchange, the King responded with a modest “If you say so.”
Christmas Cheers
The completed pint was not just any drink; it featured festive decorations with the words “Merry Christmas” and a sprig of holly, all crafted using edible dyes. Following his first sip, the King humorously found himself sporting a Guinness moustache.
Sampling Other Brews
In addition to showcasing his pint-pulling prowess, King Charles also sampled various beers brewed on-site, including a porter, the seasonally inspired “winter warmer,” and an apricot sour, which he noted tasted unlike traditional beer.
