Man Sentenced for Disturbing Murder of Family Friend
Ernestas Juska, a 21-year-old man, has been sentenced to a minimum of 26 years in prison for the brutal murder of Nina Denisova, a family friend, in her sleep. The tragic incident occurred in August 2024 at his mother’s home in Dartford, Kent, where Juska committed further criminal acts that have been described as “unimaginable depravity.”
The Crime
On the night of the murder, Juska was socialising with his mother and Denisova, who was 39 years old and had been staying at their home. Following a night of drinking and drug use, tensions arose between him and his mother, leading to Denisova going to bed.
In the early hours of the morning, between 5:30am and 6am, Juska executed a premeditated attack using the largest kitchen knife he could find. Despite his intentions, Denisova initially survived the first stab but struggled against him. In a horrific escalation, he brutally attacked her further, resulting in multiple fatal injuries.
After the murder, Juska fled the scene, eventually seeking help at a nearby bus stop, admitting to a passerby that he had killed someone.
Details of the Sentencing
During the proceedings at Maidstone Crown Court, Judge Dexter Dias KC highlighted the profound impact Juska’s exposure to violent pornography had on his mentality. The judge pointed out that it was not a mere coincidence that Juska harboured a desire to engage in horrific acts post-murder.
As part of his sentence, Juska received a concurrent two-year term for a separate offence involving sexual penetration of a corpse. In summing up, Judge Dias remarked on the horrific nature of the crime, stating it involved acts of extreme depravity that left the victim to experience unimaginable horror in her final moments.
Emotional Impact on Family
Nina Denisova, who emigrated from Lithuania in 2006, was remembered fondly by her family. Her brother spoke in court about her positive nature and the kindness she exhibited in life, stating that they would never be able to comprehend why such a tragic event occurred.
