Firefighters Face Alarming Cancer Rates as London Assembly Seeks Action
Research indicates that firefighters, especially those aged 35 to 39, are facing cancer rates that soar as much as 323% above the average of the general population. In addition to physical health risks, exposure to harmful contaminants is correlated with significant mental health challenges.

Key topics for discussion will include the Brigade’s strategies for reducing exposure to toxic substances, reforming internal policies regarding contaminated equipment, and tackling the persistent threat posed by ‘forever chemicals’ and other hazardous pollutants.
