King Approves New Appointments to Judicial Appointments Commission
His Majesty The King has given his approval for the appointment of Tony Harking and Sarah Pittam as Lay Commissioners of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), effective 1 October 2025, for a term of three years. Additionally, Siwan Davies will serve as Lay Commissioner with responsibility for Welsh issues, commencing 1 December 2025, also for a three-year term.
About the Judicial Appointments Commission
The JAC is an autonomous entity tasked with the selection of candidates for judicial positions in courts and tribunals across England and Wales, including certain tribunals that operate on a UK-wide basis. Appointments to the JAC are made by His Majesty The King, following recommendations from the Lord Chancellor. These recent appointments were conducted in accordance with the regulations set out in the Judicial Appointment Commission Regulations Act of 2013.

Tony Harking
