Student Murder Charges Filed Following Southampton Night Out Tragedy
A young man has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old student after he was fatally stabbed during a night out in Southampton. Henry Nowak, who was studying at the University of Southampton, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.
The Incident
The altercation occurred on Wednesday evening in Belmont Road, Portswood, where Nowak reportedly sustained a puncture wound to his chest, along with two stab wounds to the back of his leg. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the location.
Charges Filed
Vickrum Digwa, a 22-year-old resident of Southampton, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place, according to Hampshire Constabulary. He and another individual, Kiran Kaur, aged 52, have both been scheduled to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
In connection with the investigation, a 51-year-old man had been detained on suspicion of murder but has since been released on police bail. A 26-year-old man was initially arrested for murder but has now faced charges related to assisting an offender and a public order offence instead.

Nowak’s family expressed their profound grief in a statement, describing him as a “kind, intelligent and talented” individual who was in his first year of university studies, pursuing accountancy and finance. They highlighted his accomplishments, including excelling in his A-levels and immersing himself in university life by joining two football teams and working part-time at Morrisons.
The family’s emotional tribute conveyed their heartbreak at the loss of a beloved son, brother, and friend, mourning the bright future that was abruptly cut short. They remarked, “Our world will never be the same without our amazing Henry.”
