Attended by prominent figures including Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat and various Lebanese business leaders, the event signals a commitment to forging stronger business ties between the two nations.
A Platform for Economic Collaboration
The BLCC, an official non-profit organisation, is set to integrate into the British Chambers of Commerce International Network, which consists of over 75 chambers worldwide. This initiative has received backing from the British Embassy in Beirut, aiming to facilitate effective partnerships and provide valuable market insights for businesses in both countries.
Objectives and Mission
The chamber’s core mission is to enhance bilateral trade and investment while supporting businesses that wish to expand their reach across both markets. A vital aspect of its role will be to cultivate a trusted network that encourages collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development.
British Ambassador to Lebanon and Honorary President of the BLCC, Hamish Cowell, expressed optimism regarding the chamber’s potential. He remarked that the establishment of the BLCC represents a crucial advancement in strengthening commercial partnerships between the UK and Lebanon, ultimately generating new opportunities for businesses in both regions.
Vision for the Future
Farid Chedid, the newly appointed Chairman of the BLCC, outlined the chamber’s strategic importance. He noted that it aims to align Lebanese enterprises with British standards while ensuring that British businesses can navigate the Lebanese market with clarity and foresight.
Minister Amer Bisat further emphasised the BLCC’s role in enhancing exports and investments, portraying it as a significant contributor to Lebanon’s transition towards global economic prosperity. This ambition comes at a time when Lebanon is looking to rebuild its economy following challenging times.
